The Miami Heat recorded 86 first-half scores versus the Memphis Grizzlies

The Heat secured a overwhelming 146 to 114 victory over the Grizzlies in their first basketball match after player Rozier was arrested over alleged illegal gambling.

Trail Blazers coach Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad FBI probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals deny the allegations.

But, the Heat were focused as they scored eighty-six first-half points to be ahead of Memphis by thirty-nine after two quarters, the largest half-time advantage in the team's 37-year history.

Bam Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four points and later said Terry had the team's full backing.

"We stand behind him. Complete backing," Bam said. "You support him through and through. He's like family at the end of the day."

Heat coach Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is important to all of us. He has made a real positive impact on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he goes through the situation."

Portland additionally won their first game after the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter taking over as interim coach in Billups' absence and guiding the squad to a decisive 139-119 win against the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and how he coached," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Recent Events

Addressing the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "very upset" by the events of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the fairness of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner also said an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent about it. Although there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been cooperating since then. Naturally, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"And two and a half years later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Terry.

"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise here between protecting people's rights and investigating."
