Letitia James Faces Federal Financial Fraud Indictment
A national judicial panel brought charges against Letitia James over allegations of financial misconduct on Thursday, per a person familiar with the matter.
The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of this case to the grand jury on Thursday, the person said.
Federal prosecutors seldom appear before such panels.
Halligan was installed in the role last month following Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of inquiries targeting political opponents.
The move represents the newest attempt to leverage the Department of Justice to punish adversaries.
It follows two weeks after Halligan obtained indictments targeting the former FBI director.
Experienced attorneys wrote a document for that matter detailing why indictments were not justified.
Comey denied the charges recently.
