Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Debuts, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
