Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
