Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by the Monarch at Royal Windsor Ceremony
David Beckham received a honorary title at the historic royal residence on the weekday. The ex-national team leader, fifty, was among those receiving awards for his services to sport and philanthropy. In recent months, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being acknowledged in the monarch's annual honors list.
Soccer Achievements
The player first appeared in England's top division for Manchester United in the mid-nineties and was a key member that secured a dramatic European Cup win in 1999 when they beat the German giants with last-minute strikes.
Overall, he netted eighty-five scores and collected honours including multiple English championships and two FA Cups as a footballer, before ending his playing career in 2013. Alongside his football career, he has supported a number of charity causes, including acting as a goodwill ambassador for global aid group the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Philanthropy and Beyond
In the previous year, the sports star, who has described himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was named an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity founded by the monarch in the early nineties. In the late nineties he was named most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has modelled for brands like the fashion retailer, Armani, and the luxury label.
David tied the knot with Victoria in 1999 and the couple have a family of four kids together – their eldest, the second son, the third child, and Harper.
